The Bowderstone (Liz Hodgson)

The subject of the book has more to it than you would expect. Well it is only a large boulder. It has a curiosity and a history that I first discovered from an old postcard. I have visited the Bowder stone for many years and enjoyed every time I ventured into Borrowdale. Discovering that there is a legend connected to the stone made me want to find out more. A legend forgotten in time. This gives the stone an added interest to people, it is no longer just a stone that has fallen from above. The legend means that it is more important than anyone can imagine. The face that can be seen on the stone, possibly a carving, is possibly the source of the legend. The story of the Bowder stone will make a visit interesting and you can have your picture taken on the largest head in Cumbria.
