In November 2000 the Linton Holme Hotel will be 100 years old. The original idea for this book was to produce a centenary book for the hotel, just that. When Marie Dickens embarked on this task it quickly developed into something much more. She realised there was a fascinating local history to the area that went back much further than 1899. The hotel was just part of this, providing a social and recreational focus  for many of the inhabitants of this developing suburb between Botcherby and London Road.

The result is a detailed social history of the area, enriched with many recollections and images of and from inhabitants past and present.
