Hale Bopp over Cumbria
Comet Hale Bopp
was very special. It may well turn out to be the brightest and best comet of
this century.
In the Spring
of 1997, throughout March and April, Hale Bopp was visible to all, even from
our often cloudy Cumbria.
Local amateur astronomers had been eagerly awaiting this event for eighteen
months;
since the comet was first discovered. They were well prepared. the images in
this small
book are a selection from the best of the many photographs taken
by local enthusiasts of this most welcome visitor from outer space.
